Hi everyone, my name is Barry Holmes and this is my website. I thought it would be a great idea to introduce myself and to tell you all something about me and why I have created this site.

When we are young the majority of us take life for granted, well I certainly did. Growing up through your childhood, being protected by your family from the dangers of the outside world. Moving into your teenage years and experiencing the start of adult life, going to places with friends and getting to know people. Eventually starting work, then perhaps meeting someone, settling down and raising a family.

I enjoyed all that, but took a lot of it for granted. Then suddenly in my early forties I  suffered a heart attack and rushed into hospital. I remember even now the vivid thoughts going through my mind as I was being taken there by ambulance, but after being given a triple bypass and recovering at home with my beautiful wife and 3 sons I looked back on why I think this happened. 

Over the years I had worked long hours like a number of us do, started eating more, even though my wife when I was at home gave me balanced meals. I would snack whilst working and did very little exercise, apart from play golf once a week.

So, once I had recovered I decided to do something about it, to try and not let it happen again. I stopped eating all the extra snacks that I used to and stick to meals prepared by my wife. Cut down on my hours at work and therefore enjoyed more time with the family. Also I started to exercise more, whether it was walking daily, going to the gym or playing more regular golf. I felt myself feeling fitter and in turn feeling happier within myself.

Unfortunately however I made the cardinal mistake, suddenly 8 years on I thought I was totally okay and went back into my old habits of working longer hours again therefore reducing the amount of exercise I had time to do and snacking on what some people would say are the wrong foods. The result 2nd heart attack. Back into hospital to get sorted out.

I do not intend to go down that road for a 3rd time, that is why I have decided to create this website to help others to try and not experience what I have. Also somewhere for me to go and work on if I need help again myself, but knowing I am trying to help you that will be enough incentive.

Please look around and see what you feel would fit in with your current life style to assist you in feeling better both physically and mentally. Whether it is exercising apparatus or DVD’S, monitoring items, yoga or pilates instructional eidtorials. Perhaps you may be thinking of taking up a sport, now I know I am bias when recommending golf but it gives you exercise, gets your adrenalin going and particularly on a bright fresh day you feel on cloud nine when you have finished. So if you feel like trying it ,look it up here.
