Go along to your local sports & gym centre and under go an induction class. This means an instructor will take some details from you about yourself and possibly ask if there are any current health conditions he should be aware of. Then he or she will take you around various apparatus and show you how to use it. Afterwards if you are interested he will set a program if you wish according to what you want to achieve.
You will get exercise from this and your fitness levels will increase. Also at the gym there will be weight areas for body workouts, so try it. You will not not know if you like something until you have tried it out.
