Some years ago when I suffered from cardiovascular problems and underwent surgery, I asked my cardiologist about continuing golf when I recovered.I was informed by him it was one of the best forms of exercise. I know I am bias because I really enjoy the game, but he told me why.

Think about it, when you play a round of golf your walking for about 4 hours (Do not use a buggy). Its very rare a course is totally flat, therefore your walking up and down hills as well as flat areas. Then your swinging your body round and your arms up and down. Finally your adrenalin is pumping and your breathing gets easier believe it or not as the blood is pumping round.

When you finish the round you feel good in yourself, fresher and alive. It does not matter to much how good your round was, although an excellent round makes you feel even better.

When the weather is to bad to go out go onto the driving range provided they have enclosed bays to stay dry. They say practice makes perfect and you will still benefit from the session.

So whatever your age, take the sport up and see the benefit for yourself.
